You need to enable Auto-Mute mode in alsamixer if you want speakers to
mute on plug. Also, make sure Headphone is unmuted (Press 'm' and make
sure it does not say "MM")

** Summary changed:

- Wired headphones not detected; audio stays on speakers after plug-in.
+ [HP 250 15.6 inch G9, Realtek ALC236] Wired headphones not detected; audio
stays on speakers after plug-in.

** Description changed:

Wired headphones are not detected on my HP laptop. When headphones are
plugged into the audio jack, Ubuntu does not switch output and no
headphone device appears; sound continues playing through the internal
  speakers.

- If they allow one extra line, add this:
-
Audio uses Intel Alder Lake sof-hda-dsp with Realtek ALC236 on PipeWire.
-
- That’s it. Clean, factual, zero drama—the kind of report kernel and
- audio devs actually read.
