Public bug reported:
Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS
Kernel: 6.14.0-37-generic
GNOME Shell: 46.0-0ubuntu6
Mutter: 46.2-1ubuntu0.24.04.14
GJS: 1.80.2-1build2
Starting from mid December, GNOME Shell 46.0 crashes (Signal 11) occasionally
when initializing Wacom Pad due to missing PadActionType. Root cause appears to
be Shell 46.0 / Mutter 46.2 mismatch in LTS backport. Crash reproducible by
(re)connecting Wacom Intuos Pro M and using pad features in X11 session.
(I have already uninstalled DING and do not have any other additional
extensions outside of Ubuntu defaults)
Exact error from journalctl:
JS ERROR: TypeError: (intermediate value).PadActionType is undefined
GNOME Shell crashed with signal 11
I understand that it is not a Ubuntu problem per se, but I can't upload
Gnome Shell nor downgrade Mutter on LTS with confidence.
