On laptop #1 with 6.18.0-9 kernel and parameter intel_iommu=intgpu_off I haven't so far been able to reproduce the flickering. In the log there's message "kernel: DMAR: Disable integrated GPU device mapping".
$ cat /proc/cmdline BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-6.18.0-9-generic intel_iommu=intgpu_off root=UUID=c6b19f0f-68ff-4d8c-985a-c3ed88345389 ro quiet splash resume=UUID=f25913ea-6478-45dc-8f64-ea5d721a8f25 vt.handoff=7 With 6.8.0-99 kernel and no extra parameters no flickering either. In the log there's message "kernel: pci 0000:00:02.0: DMAR: Disabling IOMMU for graphics on this chipset". So, maybe I misunderstood the point: on the new 6.8 kernel the fix works automatically, but on kernel 6.18 an extra parameter is needed to enable the fix? If this is the case, then I guess this bug is fixed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2136958 Title: Random flickering with Intel i915 (CoffeeLake and WhiskeyLake) on Linux 6.8 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/2136958/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
