It's a matter of which variant of English :)

Actually I think gnome-shell gets the date string from gnome-desktop.
But neither project seems to have an en_DK translation, only en_GB and
en_CA.
So if we follow the current design then it's gnome-desktop's fault for
not having an en_DK translation. And equally we should be considering if
there's a way to follow the configured date formatting without having to
rely on translations. Displaying ALL the fields in the Settings app
wouldn't be appropriate but choosing the right subset of fields and
formatting them to suit the (any) locale might be possible.
