Hi everyone, thanks for the updates, and sorry about delay getting back to it.
So a few things to add since I reported it - Since the multiple gjs process was mentioned by Daniel, the next time I got to looking at it, the ghost icon had gone.. I'd done some regular updates since (didn't take notice of which packages were updated), but thought I'd wait and see if it came back.. Multiple reboots and a few days later, it did, but not sure why.. the only errors I have are usually firefox crashing because this is an old machine, and I have too many tabs open.. Or the whole window manager locks up and I end up back at the gdm login screen after a long wait, and I could usually log in again, close things down, log out, back in.. etc - I started noticing, even when the machine wasn't under load, and everything else was successfully/cleanly closed, that I'd get the "Force quit/wait" dialogue for gjs... it would never become responsive, so I'd choose force quit or log out/reboot. I can't remember whether the ghost icon was present when this happened, but I seem to remember it happened once or twice with and without it (I will check next time I get the gjs unresponsive dialogue) - Today it's back, but now it has the blue highlight as if selected by the mouse, but of course doesn't respond to mouse (see screenshot). The other shortcut worked/responded as normal/expected - I checked for multiple gjs processes, but there was only one: mybox:~$ ps ax | grep -P 'gjs.*gnome-shell/extensions.*ding' 116762 ? Sl 0:03 gjs /usr/share/gnome-shell/extensions/[email protected]/app/ding.js -E -P /usr/share/gnome-shell/extensions/[email protected]/app Is there any more diagnostic info I can dig up that would be useful?
