Public bug reported:
After upgrading FreeRDP libraries to 2.6.1+dfsg1-3ubuntu2.8 on Ubuntu
22.04, Remmina crashes with a segmentation fault when connecting to an
internal RDP server.
The crash occurs inside libfreerdp2.so and is logged by the kernel.
Downgrading the following packages to 2.6.1+dfsg1-3ubuntu1 fixes the
issue completely:
libfreerdp2-2
libfreerdp-client2-2
libfreerdp-server2-2
libwinpr2-2
Remmina itself was not upgraded (version 1.4.25).
Steps to reproduce:
Install Ubuntu 22.04
Upgrade FreeRDP to 2.6.1+dfsg1-3ubuntu2.8
Connect to an RDP server using Remmina
Observe segmentation fault
Expected result:
Connection should succeed or fail gracefully.
Actual result:
Kernel segfault and Remmina crash.
Workaround:
Downgrading FreeRDP/WinPR packages to 2.6.1+dfsg1-3ubuntu1 and holding them.
Error logs from /var/log/syslog when the crash occur:
