Public bug reported:

Update-manager closes after selecting updates to install if no
authentication agent is running.

You can verify this by running a window manager directly from a console,
e.g.

  startx /bin/mwm

Then start update-manager and select some updates to install. It will go
to the progress bar window normally but shortly after terminate without
a trace (not even stderr/stdout).

It works fine if one starts /usr/lib/policykit-1-gnome/polkit-gnome-
authentication-agent-1 before, though, and a password prompt will pop-up
at the time when update-manager had previously ended.

Verified on 26.04.2.
