Public bug reported:
On a fresh installation of Ubuntu 24.04.4 with Thunderbird snap ver.
140.7.1esr-1 rev. 976, it is impossible to open any attachments using
System Handeler. After reverting to the previous revision available
(rev. 959) of the same snap version, this problem is solved.
Details:
When attempting to open a PDF attachment by clicking on it or using the
mouse right-button Open option, no action occurs.
When attempting to open other attachment types, such as a TXT file, a
pop-up window appears offering the option *Open with: System Handler
(default)*. The *OK* button is grayed out, and selecting *Other…* in the
dropdown menu results in the appearance of a *Select Application* window
with the message `No application found for "plain text document" files`.
I couldn't find any related errors in the Error Console or in
`/var/log/syslog`. The issue also persists when running Thunderbird in
Safe Mode.
