Public bug reported: The Bionic kernel is missing a regdb signature key.
As a result, newer wireless-regdb packages (including at least the version in -updates, 2025.07.10-0ubuntu1~18.04) cannot be loaded and it is not possible to change from the restrictive Global policy. As Bionic is well out of standard support, it is unlikely that we will be updating the kernel in bionic-updates. Once https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wireless-regdb/+bug/2140602 is fixed in the extended-support pocket, users who are still running out- of-support Ubuntu 18.04 on hardware with WiFi should soon be able to install a fixed kernel by enabling ESM. ** Affects: wireless-regdb (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: regression-update ** Tags removed: regression-release ** Tags added: regression-update -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2141983 Title: regdb database cannot be loaded on Bionic To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wireless-regdb/+bug/2141983/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
