As mentioned, this bug is a dupliate of
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-firmware/+bug/2140975 .
I will just put here how my problem was fixed (probably there are better
ways to fix it)
Issue (wifi not available after upgrading the linux kernel) fixed after
I upgraded to the even newer kernel when it became available
Summary (probably there is a better way to fix it but this is what was
done) :
- Last week, upggraded from 6.14.0-1020-oem to 6.17.0-1011-oem
- After reboot, wifi not available
- So I rollback to the old kernel (6.14.0-1020-oem)(steps in my comment above)
then I reboot. This old kernel has the wifi working fine
- I `sudo apt install dkms`
- I wait a week until the newer kernel (6.17.0-1012-oem) is available. I
upgrade to it (sudo apt update; sudo apt upgrade`)
- I change the grub settings `sudo sed -i 's/GRUB_DEFAULT=.*/GRUB_DEFAULT=0/g'
/etc/default/grub` then I run `sudo update-grub ; sudo update-initramfs -u -k
all ; sudo update-grub ; sudo update-initramfs -u -k all`
- I reboot and confirm that I am running 6.117.0-1012-oem by running
`uname -r` . And the wifi is working fine
This https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-firmware/+bug/2140586 also
has a nice description on how to debug the issue
