This trouble started about two months ago and can not pin point the date because the TEN Asrock FM2A58M+HD motherboards was not backed up using USB stick. To Reiterate changes noted in the Linux Mint 21-22 DISKS MENU the insertion of previous operating USB sticks, W95 / NTFS with ASCII name tag/ example KINGSTONBAKUP have disappeared, are not mounted at all and furthermore a few arrempts to mount start a one second on off on off display of the KINGSTONBAKUP name identification CHANGED to DISPLAY Physon
What appears to happen is the USB Stick data is empty indicating go partition no formatting and the original name is changed from KINGSTON to Physon after inserting the USB stick! Taking the same USB stick and inserting into a Windows 11 OS returns all original data and USB stick name tag What also happens is inswering the USB stick amd starting BOOT Ubuntu 22 LM21.3 or 22 freeze / stop the BOOT process / also kill the mouse and keyboard access. REMOVING the USB stick returns norma BOOT and system operations. At this point running on system selecting DISKS from MENU the USB stick is listed as Phtson no data known. no type. not partitioned. not formatted. Removing and re inserting the USB stick may start a rapidly cycled mount. on off on off, USB stick rejection Mother board BIOS firmmware MENU also not recognize USB stick that was recognizd before as KINGSTON and trying to select a BIOS MENU option. moving the mouse. SMEARS BIOS video MENU as a paint brush. Removing the USB stick returns NORMAL operations In conclusion the USB sticks that operated correct are now all dead data on Ubuntu system but are operating correct inside a Window 11 OS Ib conclusion inside the Ubuntu DISK MENU a long list of FOR-MATING OPTIONS WAS ADDED such as Apple Amega etc etc etc above and beyond what was available as the old Ubuntu DISK MENU W95 NTFS In conclusion the addition of for-mating options and USB stick software identification now over write BIOS allocated memory and corrupts usage of USB stick. Please analyize and perhaps offer a reduced old fashioned return back to normal USB stick secured identification inside a mother board BIOS start up defined locations -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2142464 Title: Ubuntu 22.04 jammy Machine: Kernel update USB stick dead To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/2142464/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
