tried to install on my gutsy amd64 machine and it installed without problems
sudo apt-get install computertemp then added the computertemp thingy to the bottom panel (right-click on panel, select add to panel, select computer temperature monitor) and this showed me a new icon and that showed me the temperature of my two cpus my uname -a : Linux koen-desktop 2.6.22-14-generic #1 SMP Tue Dec 18 05:28:27 UTC 2007 x86_64 GNU/Linux my dpkg -l | grep computertemp : ii computertemp 0.9.6.1-1 computer temperature monitor applet for GNOM are you using gnome ?
