Public bug reported:
A multicoloured square flashes at the top left of the display.
I removed AutoKey, and autoremoved but files where left in .local and
.config including autokey.desktop in .config/autostart - removing this
file solved the problem.

AutoKey
The fix: rm ~/.config/autostart/autokey.desktop
