There are a few questions that need to be addressed before an FFe can be granted: - Do you know why Debian has kept this in experimental for almost a year instead of uploading to unstable already? Are there any discussions about this or potential worries brought up? - How come you are cherry-picking fixes from upstream that are not included in the Debian uploads? Are the fixes Ubuntu-specific, or are you including them ahead of Debian? - Can you run the autopkgtests for at least gzip itself? - It would also be nice to identify some packages which use gzip (this is easier said than done) and run their autopkgtests also. Since this package is essential, many packages will use it without declaring an explicit dependency, which is unfortunate for proposed-migration purposes.
Assuming these worries are addressed this is indeed a very nice performance improvement to include in an LTS. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2142871 Title: [FFe] Update gzip to 1.14 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gzip/+bug/2142871/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
