Hi Alex, thank you for your quick analysis. Now I can say the bug can be closed: The bug seems to be caused by hardware - obviously my kvm switch gets old and i need to replace this. However, your hints are valuable regarding the versions. When I was new to Ubuntu, I had tried to install the graphics card, and then i did some manual work which was not absolutely standard. (probably i'll install ubuntu new again since that graphics is not that new anymore) Thank you, Stefan
