So I managed to reproduce locally by adding "raw.qemu: -cpu EPYC-
Rome-v1" to the config of my lxd vm config that had built ubuntustudio,
resquashed the directory that gives the problem on launchpad and
reproduced the bug https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/24gMkdxMwS/

I'll upload a non-corrupt archive of this directory somewhere so other
people can play with this.

My guess is that xz does lots of ifunc nonsense (...) and one variant of
something has a bug.
