Alot of people are frustrated with the lack of a working jingle-capable XMPP client in release versions of ubuntu.
What's the near-term direction for IM on Ubuntu? Is the Ubuntu team planning to replace the default clients gaim/kopete with telepathy in an upcoming release? If so, is empathy the officially-blessed telepathy- based client for gnome which will replace gaim? How can someone like myself get involved upstream? I would like to help if possible since it is clear that devs/maintainers are spread rather thin in the RT comms area right now (big ideas, but too many projects going at once) If there is some jingle-capable client for which the support is somewhat stable upstream (kopete, empathy, or other) perhaps we could build some alternative debs for gutsy. I know all the devs are super-busy, and this is free software, but to me no jingle = ubuntu broken. -- Enable voip (audio/video talk) support in empathy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/89431 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
