Same problem. Cannot detect actual state of backlight.
Cannot detect action key (F9) that cycle backlight state from high, low, off.
Cannot catch backlight on/off event.
Backlight working after key on internal keyboard pressed.


- Model: HP EliteBook x360 1030 G2

- BIOS date: 2025-03-19
- OS during testing: Linux Mint 22
- Kernel during testing: 6.8.0-107-generic


My intention, which I did not achieve, was to turn on the keyboard backlight by 
touching the touchpad.

I attached GenAI (Codex ChatGPT 5.4) investigation about that problem.
