Thanks for sharing that transparency on how you ended up on this implementation.
> On 1, we didn't want to convey enabling dark theme causes substantial savings in all cases because savings depend on screen brightness [2], so we decided nudging like this was most elegant. But I'd personally be OK with stronger language because there _are_ savings. We could also signal this is a power saving feature with a leaf icon or similar too. Since we did measure this and it's quite tangible, I do think that a harder nudge can be justified, and yes a leaf is a good signal too. > We thought this was a sensible first step, but we did discuss other features, such as automatic theme switching based on time or battery level. I'd very much like to see smart features like that. If the same thing from OOBE isn't already in gnome-control-center then I think the same signaling should be on that page; or the hint potentially on the power page. So the user that flies through and missed it still has hints later to improve it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2147153 Title: OOBE Style screen doesn't nudge dark mode hard enough To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-initial-setup/+bug/2147153/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
