Oh I forgot the Nvidia-470 driver can't use newer kernels. For a machine
like this I would stick to the 6.8 kernel as mentioned in comment #2.
Unfortunately that's not easy to do if you start at 24.04.2.

The easiest way to stay on kernel 6.8 would be to install the original
24.04.0 release:

https://old-releases.ubuntu.com/releases/24.04/ubuntu-24.04-desktop-
amd64.iso
