"apt install piboot-try" *said* it was happy, but the machine has now failed to boot 3x, so it looks like it's screwed. bleh.
Since it's headless all I can tell is that it's not responding to ping. I'll have to move it to my desk over the weekend to investigate, but I'll update here if I find anything interesting.
