Public bug reported:

After updating to linux-image-7.0.0-15-generic on Kubuntu 26.04, the
system fails to boot into the graphical environment. Reverting to
7.0.0-14 resolves the issue entirely.

Hardware: HP Pavilion, AMD Ryzen 5 (Lucienne).

The logs from the failed boot (journalctl -b -1 -p err) show ACPI BIOS errors
colliding with the WMI modules, immediately followed by Powerdevil EACCES
permissions errors, crashing the session:

********************************************************************************************

1) The release of Ubuntu you are using:

    Kubuntu 26.044 (Noble Numbat)

2) The version of the package you are using:

    Package: linux-image-7.0.0-15-generic
(Currently purged and system running on 7.0.0-14 to maintain stability).

3) What you expected to happen:

The system should boot normally into the KDE Plasma graphical
session without freezing or hanging during the boot sequence.

4) What happened instead:

The boot process hangs completely after the GRUB menu. The graphical
interface never loads, and the system becomes unresponsive. Reviewing
the logs (journalctl -b -1 -p err) reveals that org_kde_powerdevil
crashes repeatedly with EACCES(-1) permission errors immediately
following ACPI BIOS/WMI module errors. Reverting to kernel 7.0.0-14
restores full functionality.
