Public bug reported:

Previously Text edit exited normally and re-opened the unsaved files
having saved the files to Gnome session. Maintaining their unsaved
state to allow me to deal with as I saw fit.

Now chatty-cathy wants to tell me how to manage my files. I have to
choose to save the files!!! I have to do it now when the application
tells me to. There is no option to defer descision to later. Either
save to disk or delete. No leave in the gnome session.

But after a reboot without saving. Ta-da "Document Restored: Unsaved
document has been restored" - oh what a clever application have a fking
biscuit. Do you want a prize too?! So the gnome session saved the damn
files. But the user interface has been crippled.

This is a massive reversion to 2000's style horrible user interface. I
will be swapping to a modern editor that behaves in an expected fashion.

Previously on Ubuntu 25.10 using Gnome 49 (AFAIK) Text editor worked
fine like a normal modern editor. But now after an "upgrade" it has
gone up one version number and back 30 years in user interface design.
Who is the brainless moron who took out auto-save and auto-restore of
user sessions?!? Its not VIM. If you want to use VIM use it. I do,
its great, but I also want a session managed editor for other tasks.

With the end of Windows 10 I swapped to Ubuntu and was pleasantly
surprised as to how not terrible it was. Then 26.04 came out and
surprise!! its shit again. Windows 11 was a massive foot-gun for
Microsoft, and it appears Gnome is determined to not be outdone.
