Looking into this, though I can't seem to reproduce in a Noble test
container:

root@ephemeral-noble-2786:~# ls path
foo.lua  foo.py  foo.sh
root@ephemeral-noble-2786:~# scp localhost:~/path/*.{sh,py,awk,c,lua} .
scp: ~/path/*.awk: No such file or directory
scp: ~/path/*.c: No such file or directory
root@ephemeral-noble-2786:~# ls
foo.lua  foo.py  foo.sh  path
