Thank you for the clarification and for confirming the root cause. For completeness, I would like to note that a BUILD_VMWGFX-enabled version of the VMware Xorg driver is still fully functional in my test environment.
The following features are currently working correctly: * dynamic guest resize * multi-monitor layout changes * vmwgfx DRM integration * DRI2 * DRI3 * Render acceleration * OpenGL via SVGA3D Relevant log entries include: * "Gallium3D XA version: 2.5.0" * "Render acceleration is enabled" * "Direct rendering (DRI2 3D) is enabled" * "Direct rendering (DRI3 3D) is enabled" The guest also correctly performs automatic display resizing and dynamic resolution changes through the VMware display stack. One additional observation is that there appears to be a significant practical difference between: * a BUILD_VMWGFX-enabled configuration, where core VMware guest integration features remain available, including dynamic display resizing, vmwgfx integration, Render acceleration, DRI2 and DRI3 support; and * the current fallback configuration without BUILD_VMWGFX support, where those VMware-specific display capabilities are no longer available. From an end-user perspective, the BUILD_VMWGFX-enabled configuration still provides a functional VMware graphics stack, even if some advanced functionality depends on components that are now considered obsolete. Therefore, while I understand that the driver currently depends on XA and requires maintenance work to remain buildable with modern Mesa versions, it may be useful to note that the driver itself still appears functional when built with BUILD_VMWGFX support enabled. I am adding this information mainly for future users who may encounter this report while investigating VMware guest display, resize or acceleration issues. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2154640 Title: xserver-xorg-video-vmware 13.4.0-2 appears to be built without BUILD_VMWGFX support To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-vmware/+bug/2154640/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
