I got those installed about 30 minutes ago and the window flickering has not began again, I turned on VRR, capped the refresh rates on both monitors and assume that I will be able to know 100% if it is resolved or not by 06/08. Some notes on the process for me after install:
Installed mesa 26.0.8-1ubuntu0.1 from resolute-proposed at 2026- 06-05 17:34:56. Packages upgraded: libgl1-mesa-dri, mesa-libgallium, libgbm1, libegl-mesa0, libglx- mesa0, mesa-vulkan-drivers. Before rebooting into a fresh GNOME session, the existing GNOME Shell session still produced the known errors: - Failed to query buffer age, got error 3003 - Failed to lock front buffer on /dev/dri/card1: gbm_surface_lock_front_buffer failed - meta_frame_native_release: assertion '! frame_native->kms_update' failed Exact count after package install and before reboot was 22 matching lines. The previous long-running boot had much higher accumulated counts, but that should not be attributed solely to the proposed Mesa package. After leaving/returning to the machine, monitors would not wake/ display output. I unplugged/replugged HDMI/display cables and then hard rebooted. The next boot hung for a few minutes at the motherboard/Ubuntu spinner, so I hard rebooted again and power- drained the PSU. After that, the system booted normally. After the clean boot into Mesa 26.0.8-1ubuntu0.1, the old gbm_surface_lock_front_buffer / buffer-age errors have not reappeared so far. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2152207 Title: Failed to lock front buffer on /dev/dri/card1: gbm_surface_lock_front_buffer failed | Failed to query buffer age, got error 3003 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mutter/+bug/2152207/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
