I think we need to dive deeper into this from the boot side and
understand the problem, reproduce it, before we can understand if the
patch makes sense.

The original bug was afaiui meanwhile resolved in a separate manner by
using mount namespaces instead.

The regression potential is wrong, given os-prober is automatically
enabled if other OS are detected at install time. In addition, an actual
determination needs to be made what the actual regression potential is,
that is, what the fuseblk fallback path is doing rather than blindly
ripping it out.
