Public bug reported:

When using kernel 6.17.0-35-generic ubuntu hangs on shutdown. When I then use
the power button to force shutdown it hangs on restart. I have to boot the old
kernel, 6.14.0-37-generic to boot. It will then shutdown normally and I can
then restart with the new 6.17.0-35-generic kernel. If I don't login I can
shutdown. I tried to report this with ubuntu-bug, it collected information and
then tried to open firefox but juist took me to my homepage. Details about my
system:
Operating system Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS
Hardwaremodel: ASUSTek COMPUTER INC. ROG Strix G16 G614PR_G614PR
Processor AMD Ryzen 9 8940HX with Radeon Graphics x32
Memory 64 GiB
Disk Capacity 4TB
Firmware ve4rsion G614PR.303
GNOME version 46
Windowing system Wayland

When I hit esc during shutdown I see FAILED Failed unmounting var.mount - /var
The last line I see is systemd-shutdown[1]:Syncing filesystems and block devices

On my system /home, /tmp, /var and /var/tmp are in separate partitions.
/home, /tmp and /var/tmp are mounted with noexec,nosuid,nodev
