A little more information: After long pressing the power button to force the computer off and then starting it the startup does not always hang, most of the time it will boot. The poweroff and restart always hangs and I have to long press the power button to turn the computer off
I have a USB drive with the same version of Ubuntu installed. poweroff and restart also hangs when I boot from this USB drive, howerver the last line displayed before the hang is now: nftables_output_droppedIN= lxcbr0 SRC=0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000 DST=ff02:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0015 LEN=76 TC=0 HDPLIMIT=1 FLOWLABEL=0 OPT ( ) PROTD=ICMPV6 CODE=0 MARK=0xd4 or Console switching to colour frame buffer device 240x75 depending on whether of not I am connected to the internet at the time of the poweroff. The USB drive is a spinning drive so it is much slower than the SSD in the computer. I tried issueing the following commands when booting off the USB: sudo umount -l /var/tmp sudo umount -l /var sudo poweroff The computer thne issues the message unattended upgrade in progress... After about a half hour it then hangs with the same systemd message as when I use the computer. I don't see how there can be an unattended upgrade since I never connected to the internet. I use the USB drive for testing changes so if you want me to try something on it I am game. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2156999 Title: Ubuntu hangs on shutdown and startup To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-meta-hwe-6.17/+bug/2156999/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
