From main.log, this is interesting: 2026-06-02 17:36:06,359 DEBUG Remove: freeradius freeradius-krb5 freeradius-ldap freeradius-utils ...
So the upgrader decided to remove freeradius. apt.log has something similar: Investigating (0) tcpdump:amd64 < 4.99.1-3ubuntu0.2 -> 4.99.4-3ubuntu4.24.04.1 @ii umU Ib > Broken tcpdump:amd64 Depends on libpcap0.8t64:amd64 < none | 1.10.4-4.1ubuntu3 @un umH > (>= 1.9.1) Considering libpcap0.8t64:amd64 10 as a solution to tcpdump:amd64 5 MarkKeep tcpdump:amd64 < 4.99.1-3ubuntu0.2 -> 4.99.4-3ubuntu4.24.04.1 @ii umU Ib > FU=0 Removing tcpdump:amd64 rather than change libpcap0.8t64:amd64 MarkDelete tcpdump:amd64 < 4.99.1-3ubuntu0.2 | 4.99.4-3ubuntu4.24.04.1 @ii umH Ib > FU=0 Investigating (0) libfreeradius3:amd64 < 3.0.26~dfsg~git20220223.1.00ed0241fa-0ubuntu3.4 -> 3.2.5+dfsg-3~ubuntu24.04.3 @ii umU Ib > Broken libfreeradius3:amd64 Depends on libpcap0.8t64:amd64 < none | 1.10.4-4.1ubuntu3 @un umH > (>= 1.0.0) Considering libpcap0.8t64:amd64 10 as a solution to libfreeradius3:amd64 5 MarkKeep libfreeradius3:amd64 < 3.0.26~dfsg~git20220223.1.00ed0241fa-0ubuntu3.4 -> 3.2.5+dfsg-3~ubuntu24.04.3 @ii umU Ib > FU=0 Removing libfreeradius3:amd64 rather than change libpcap0.8t64:amd64 MarkDelete libfreeradius3:amd64 < 3.0.26~dfsg~git20220223.1.00ed0241fa-0ubuntu3.4 | 3.2.5+dfsg-3~ubuntu24.04.3 @ii umH Ib > FU=0 Looks like something related to libpcap that made apt decide to remove freeradius. Do you recall anything about this? Perhaps installing some packages from a ppa, a different repository, or from a different version of ubuntu? I'll attempt a similar relase upgrade in the meantime. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2155090 Title: Upgrading 22.04LTS to 24.04LTS completely breaks freeradius To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/freeradius/+bug/2155090/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
