Let us assume it is what Heinrich found, thanks for the chase btw!

The original commit it fixes is quite old:
Commit in 2.10.0 => bionic onwards

And the fix iteself isn't last week or so either:
Fixed in 9.2.0 => plucky onward

In that case the same should work fine in e.g. resolute today.
But test building Nobles 8.2.0 with that fix could be worth a try.

@hector could you PPA build noble with the patch applied to allow Ken to
verify if that would be it? the SRUability of that change is a debate in
itself but let us find if that is even enough.
