Public bug reported:
The file software-properties-lxqt.desktop contains the line:
Exec=lxqt-sudo -E software-properties-qt
But lxqt-sudo does not recognize the -E option. As a result, attempts to use
the menu option, "Software Sources" on lubuntu fail silently. However, if you
look at ~/.xsession-errors, the last few lines are:
lxqt-sudo: Stripping child environment except for:
DISPLAY,GDK_DPI_SCALE,GDK_SCALE,GTK_CSD,GTK_OVERLAY_SCROLLING,LANG,LANGUAGE,LC_ADDRESS,LC_ALL,LC_COLLATE,LC_CTYPE,LC_IDENTIFICATION,LC_MEASUREMENT,LC_MESSAGES,LC_MONETARY,LC_NAME,LC_NUMERIC,LC_PAPER,LC_TELEPHONE,LC_TIME,PATH,QT_PLATFORM_PLUGIN,QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME,QT_SCALE_FACTOR,TERM,WAYLAND_DISPLAY,XAUTHLOCALHOSTNAME,XAUTHORITY
[sudo: authenticate] Password:
/bin/sh: 1: exec: -E: not found
That's how I traced the problem to the file, software-properties-
lxqt.desktop, and to the software-properties-qt package which installs
the file.
I was able to work around the bug by executing the following command from a
qterminal:
lxqt-sudo software-properties-qt
