Update after correcting the 5.1 cabling: With the front L/R speakers moved from the gray jack to the green/lime jack, analog 5.1 output now works correctly.
After reboot, ALSA jack detection is stable: Line Out Front Jack: on Line Out Surround Jack: on Line Out CLFE Jack: on Line Out Side Jack: off Front Headphone Jack: off PipeWire now also selects the expected default sink: Default Sink: alsa_output.pci-0000_00_1b.0.analog-surround-51 Playback test: paplay /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav produces sound from the speakers after reboot. I also removed the PULSE_SINK environment workaround. With PULSE_SINK unset, USB headset hotplug now works correctly: - plugging in the USB headset switches Default Sink to the USB headset - unplugging it switches Default Sink back to analog-surround-51 - playback works after both transitions The only remaining workaround still in use is my user systemd service which forces the built-in card profile to output:analog- surround-51+input:analog-stereo after login.
