## Summary
Dragging images from WhatsApp Desktop and Telegram Desktop to other
applications does not work under Ubuntu 26.04 running GNOME 50 on
Wayland.
## Environment
- Ubuntu 26.04 LTS
- GNOME Shell 50.1
- Wayland session
- Mutter 50.1
- xdg-desktop-portal 1.21.1
- xdg-desktop-portal-gtk 1.15.3
Applications tested:
- WhatsApp Desktop (Flatpak)
- Telegram Desktop (official portable binary)
## Steps to reproduce
1. Log in to an Ubuntu Wayland session.
2. Open WhatsApp Desktop or Telegram Desktop.
3. Open a chat containing an image.
4. Drag the image into Firefox, Chrome, Gmail, Google Drive upload area, or
another application.
## Expected result
The image should be transferred successfully using drag and drop.
## Actual result
Nothing happens.
The destination application ignores the drop operation.
The only workaround is to save the image manually and upload it from the
file manager.
## Additional information
- Dragging files from Nautilus works correctly.
- The issue occurs in both WhatsApp Desktop and Telegram Desktop.
- WhatsApp Desktop is installed as a Flatpak.
- Telegram Desktop is the official portable binary.
- xdg-desktop-portal and xdg-desktop-portal-gtk are running.
- Session type is Wayland.
Because the same issue affects two different applications distributed in
different ways, this appears to be related to Wayland, Mutter, or GNOME
drag-and-drop handling rather than a single application.
