Additional testing results: The first successful boot of Linux 7.0.0-28-generic occurred while a wired Ethernet connection was attached.
After that, I performed additional tests with the Ethernet cable disconnected and Wi-Fi enabled. Test 1: - Ethernet disconnected - Wi-Fi enabled - Reboot - System booted successfully Test 2: - Full shutdown - Ethernet disconnected - Wi-Fi enabled - Power on - System booted successfully At this point I can no longer reproduce the original initramfs boot failure. The initial successful boot happened with the Ethernet cable connected, but subsequent successful boots also occurred using only Wi-Fi. Therefore I cannot conclude that the Ethernet connection was the cause.
