Hi Krystian, Thanks for the guidance. I adapted the workaround script for 7.1.0-070100 and ran the tests multiple times to rule out the race condition, as you suggested. Here are the definitive results:
Mainline 7.2-rc5: Tested 8 times and the issue NEVER occurred. The system powered off cleanly every single time. Mainline 7.1.0: The system froze on the very first shutdown attempt with the HDMI connected.
