Public bug reported:
I am requesting that the following source packages be added to the
Ubuntu i386 allowlist for:
* Ubuntu 24.04 LTS (Noble)
* Ubuntu 26.04 LTS (Resolute)
* Ubuntu 26.10 (Stonking)
and future Ubuntu releases for as long as the i386 partial port
remains supported:
* liburing
* libsdl3
Reason
======
I maintain a separate Extra Packages PPA for each of these Ubuntu
releases, with many old and new emulators.
Some of these packages still require a native i386 SDL3 stack.
The dependency chain is:
ZSNES:i386
-> libsdl3-dev:i386
-> liburing-dev:i386
All three PPAs have i386 explicitly enabled, but Launchpad does not
create i386 build records for either liburing or libsdl3.
For Noble, I tested the unmodified Ubuntu source package:
liburing 2.5-1build1
in a clean i386 sbuild environment, and it builds successfully without
source changes.
There is also precedent for SDL3 on i386 in LP: #2104004, which
encountered the same liburing dependency.
Request
=======
Please add liburing and libsdl3 to the i386 allowlist for Noble,
Resolute and Stonking, and keep them included in future Ubuntu series
while the i386 partial port remains supported.
If future series must be handled separately, please advise how those
requests should be submitted.
