Update: after further testing, this request can be narrowed to Ubuntu 24.04 (Noble) only.
Resolute (26.04) and Stonking (26.10) already have i386 support for both liburing and libsdl3. I have also confirmed this independently using Launchpad PPA builds: liburing source uploads for both Resolute and Stonking were accepted, scheduled on i386, and built successfully, so I edited the bug description. Please add liburing and libsdl3-dev to i386 Ubuntu 24.04 allowlist on launchpad, so I can upload these packages into my PPAs in launchpad. ** Description changed: I am requesting that the following source packages be added to the - Ubuntu i386 allowlist for: + Ubuntu i386 allowlist for Ubuntu 24.04 LTS (Noble) - * Ubuntu 24.04 LTS (Noble) - * Ubuntu 26.04 LTS (Resolute) - * Ubuntu 26.10 (Stonking) - - and future Ubuntu releases for as long as the i386 partial port - remains supported: - - * liburing - * libsdl3 - - Reason - ====== + * liburing + * libsdl3 I maintain a separate Extra Packages PPA for each of these Ubuntu releases, with many old and new emulators. Some of these packages still require a native i386 SDL3 stack. The dependency chain is: - ZSNES:i386 - -> libsdl3-dev:i386 - -> liburing-dev:i386 + ZSNES:i386 + -> libsdl3-dev:i386 + -> liburing-dev:i386 - All three PPAs have i386 explicitly enabled, but Launchpad does not - create i386 build records for either liburing or libsdl3. - - For Noble, I tested the unmodified Ubuntu source package: - - liburing 2.5-1build1 - - in a clean i386 sbuild environment, and it builds successfully without - source changes. - - There is also precedent for SDL3 on i386 in LP: #2104004, which - encountered the same liburing dependency. - - Request - ======= - - Please add liburing and libsdl3 to the i386 allowlist for Noble, - Resolute and Stonking, and keep them included in future Ubuntu series + Please add liburing and libsdl3 to the i386 allowlist for Ubuntu 24.04 Noble and keep them included in future Ubuntu series while the i386 partial port remains supported. If future series must be handled separately, please advise how those requests should be submitted. ** Tags added: noble -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2164962 Title: i386 allowlist request: liburing and libsdl3 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libsdl3/+bug/2164962/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
