Test result for 7.0.0-28.28-generic: I booted the official Ubuntu kernel 7.0.0-28.28 with the matching Canonical-signed precompiled linux-modules-nvidia-595-open package (7.0.0-28.28+1). Secure Boot remained enabled, NVIDIA 595.84 was loaded, and both the internal eDP display and external HDMI display were connected before the test. MemorySleepMode was explicitly set to deep.
The same failure reproduced: - The internal eDP panel remained black. - The external HDMI monitor showed only the wallpaper, with no usable lock/login UI. - The session did not recover after waiting, so a forced reboot was required. Relevant timeline from the failed boot: - 23:48:11.087787: PM: suspend entry (deep) - 23:48:25.956873: xhci_hcd 0000:00:0d.0: xHC error in resume, USBSTS 0x401, Reinit - 23:48:26.185773: PM: suspend exit - 23:48:51.742765: systemd-suspend.service finished (27.427 seconds wall time), about 25.6 seconds after the kernel reported suspend exit. A later power-button action initiated another deep-suspend cycle, which again logged the same xHCI USBSTS 0x401 resume error. This occurred after the initial failed display recovery. Therefore, 7.0.0-28.28 is not a known-good kernel on this hardware. The same deep-resume failure has now been reproduced on 7.0.0-28, -29, -30, and -31. As mentioned previously, this is my first bare-metal Ubuntu installation on this laptop, so I do not have an older known-good native Ubuntu kernel version. I am not planning to test additional older kernels at this time.
