distributed-net, from homepage at distributed.net, states that their last big project has finished (OGR-28). RC5-72 is still ongoing, but is no longer funded by the RSA lab[0]. Upstream has made no changes to the client in 8 years[1]. distributed-net is currently blocked on the sysvinit script migration. At this point it's safe to say that upstream support for the client is ceased, with maintenance burden falling to Ubuntu users. With distributed-net available on Ubuntu 26.04 LTS, users can continue running distributed-net until at least 2031.
