Closing this report because further testing shows the issue is not
specific to Mutter.
I reproduced the behavior under both Wayland and Xorg, and the most
recent testing found that the failure can occur without suspend.
While the problem was occurring, disabling Bluetooth immediately
restored normal clicking on the built-in touchpad. Re-enabling Bluetooth
with the Logitech ERGO M575 powered off kept the system working, and
reconnecting the M575 afterward also continued to work.
The journal showed the ERGO M575 being removed and re-added immediately
before the failure occurred.
At this point the evidence points more toward an input-device/Bluetooth
hotplug or reconnect problem than a Mutter-specific bug, so this report
is misleadingly filed against Mutter.
I am marking this Invalid while I continue isolating the actual cause.
