@Owen Yaggy: thanks, that's a useful data point - a clean regression window (~260 solid suspends on 6.17.0-41, hangs starting on 7.0.0-34) is much more actionable than anything I'd been able to pin down myself. If a bisect between those two is feasible on your end that seems like the most direct path to an actual fix, since this system's own hangs never showed a precursor to bisect from.
In the meantime, here's a workaround that has fully resolved this for me, in case it helps you or anyone else hitting this while it gets tracked down: I physically disabled the built-in Intel AX211/CNVi (blacklisted iwlwifi so it never loads) and replaced it with an external USB WiFi adapter on a different chipset/driver (Realtek RTL8822BU, in-tree rtw88 driver). It has now been stable for several days of normal use - no more firmware crash loop, no more suspend hangs. One more thing worth mentioning even though it's outside this bug's exact scope: this same laptop was also hitting occasional total, unexplained freezes completely unrelated to suspend (during ordinary awake use, and even once under Windows 11 on the same dual-boot hardware, including a CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT bugcheck there) - all with zero diagnostic trace on either OS. Disabling the same physical WiFi module also made those stop, on both operating systems. That's fairly strong evidence the AX211/CNVi module itself is a marginal or failing part on this specific machine, not just a driver/firmware interaction bug - worth keeping in mind if others report similar "unrelated" instability alongside the suspend hangs. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2167666 Title: Intel AX211 (0000:00:14.3) iwlwifi firmware crash (ADVANCED_SYSASSERT) after resume causes s2idle suspend to hang; does not reproduce on Windows 11 on same hardware To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-firmware/+bug/2167666/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
