This is a known issue triggered by Chrome and Chromium-based browsers.
If you can get to a text login or get a terminal to open and stay open
for a bit, you can run `rm -rf ~/.cache/fontconfig` and reboot to
resolve the issue. Note that launching a Chromium-based browser will
recreate the problematic fontconfig files and cause things to crash
again.
