1) A user could Enable/Disable a device. 2) View device status/error codes, manufacturer info, hardware IDs, driver details (version, date, provider), events. 3) *Update drivers — search automatically for new driver, *Roll back drivers — revert to the previous working driver if a new one causes problems. *Uninstall a device (and optionally delete the driver software, which would force Ubuntu to redetect and reinstall a device. 4) Scan for hardware changes — force Ubuntu to re-enumerate devices (helpful after plugging in new hardware or after uninstalling a device).
Windows Device Manager has this functionality.
