Public bug reported: The lenovo-wwan-unlock package in Ubuntu 26.04 (resolute), 2.0.0-0ubuntu3, predates upstream support for several WWAN modules used in Lenovo's 2026 ThinkPads. As a result, WWAN cannot be used on these machines with the packaged version.
Upstream (https://github.com/lenovo/lenovo-wwan-unlock) now lists support for, among others: - Foxconn SDX61 (T99W696, PCI ID 17cb:0308): ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 14, X1 2-in-1 Gen 11, T14 Gen 7, T16 Gen 5, T14s Gen 7, T14s 2-in-1 Gen 2, P14s Gen 7 AMD - Rolling Wireless RW101R-GL and RW350 on several 2025/2026 models The packaged fcc-unlock.d contains scripts only for 14c3:4d75, 1eac:1007, 1eac:100d, 2c7c:6008 and 8086:7560. There is no script for 17cb:0308, so ModemManager never attempts an FCC unlock on the SDX61 and the modem stays in state "disabled" with the radio off. Verified on a ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 14 (Foxconn T99W696, firmware FDE.F0.3.2.0.3.DF.001.022): with the upstream files installed, the FCC unlock succeeds, the modem registers on the network (LTE + 5G NR) and mobile data works, once the AppArmor issue in LP: #2169393 is worked around. Request: update the package to the current upstream release, and make sure the shipped AppArmor profiles match the new binaries. The newer configservice_lenovo needs access that the current profile does not allow, for example /opt/fcc_lenovo/lib/libfiisdk.so.2.2.2, exec of /usr/bin/mmcli and reading /sys/devices/virtual/dmi/id/product_name. ** Affects: lenovo-wwan-unlock (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2169394 Title: Please update lenovo-wwan-unlock to current upstream: no FCC unlock for Foxconn SDX61 (ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 14) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lenovo-wwan-unlock/+bug/2169394/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
