I expected synaptic to perform as it does in a X11 session
Open synaptic via GUI
Enter password
Search and install software
Close synaptic
Two failed attempts to use synaptic
(a) GUI for synaptic opens, password entered, GUI completely disappears
(b) Open a terminal
synaptic-pkexec
Authorization required, but no authorization protocol specified
Failed to initialize GTK.
Probably you're running Synaptic on Wayland with root permission.
Please restart your session without Wayland, or run Synaptic without root
permission
