After upgrading to Ubuntu 26.04, `mate-screenshot` hangs when saving a screenshot. The screenshot is captured correctly and the save dialog appears, but after pressing **Save** the application becomes unresponsive and the file is not saved. The process remains running and has to be terminated manually. System: ```text Ubuntu 26.04 MATE desktop mate-utils 1.26.1-1build5 ``` Steps to reproduce: 1. Run: ```bash mate-screenshot --interactive ``` 2. Take a screenshot. 3. Choose a filename/location. 4. Press **Save**. Actual result: `mate-screenshot` hangs and does not complete the save operation. Expected result: The screenshot should be saved and `mate-screenshot` should exit normally. I traced the problem and found that the screenshot itself is created correctly as a temporary PNG. The hang occurs later during the save operation. This appears to be the same bug already fixed in Debian: ```text Debian bug #1129377 mate-screenshot hangs when saving to a file after libgdk-pixbuf upgrade ``` Debian fixed it in `mate-utils 1.26.1-2` with: ```text debian/patches/1002-replace-fork-save-with-sync-save.patch ``` The patch replaces the fork-based save code with synchronous saving. I applied the Debian patch to the Ubuntu `mate-utils 1.26.1-1build5` source package, rebuilt it locally as `1.26.1-1build15`, and installed the rebuilt packages. I applied the patch in https://salsa.debian.org/debian-mate-team/mate-utils/-/raw/master/debian/patches/1002-replace-fork-save-with-sync-save.patch After applying this patch, `mate-screenshot` saves screenshots normally again. So the Debian fix should probably be backported to Ubuntu 26.04. regards a.
