Public bug reported:

Dear Maintainers,
It seems that I can't choose the pid file used by the ospfd daemon:

# /usr/lib/frr/ospfd -d -i /tmp/ospfd-foobar.pid
2026/10/06 10:10:48 OSPF: [XNZM2-2XF6G][EC 100663303] Can't create pid lock
file /tmp/ospfd-foobar.pid (Permission denied), exiting

alternative with the -N option:

# mkdir /var/lib/frr/foobar /run/frr/foobar
# chown frr:frr /var/lib/frr/foobar /run/frr/foobar
# /usr/lib/frr/ospfd -d -N foobar
2026/10/06 10:12:23 OSPF: [XNZM2-2XF6G][EC 100663303] Can't create pid lock
file /run/frr/foobar/ospfd.pid (Permission denied), exiting

It seems that more recent version (10.7.1) doesn't have this issue.

Regards
Christophe
