Thanks for your reply. You are correct; I don't use Kubuntu desktop, but rather the KDE Plasma desktop, which suits me better. I therefore worked around the issue by performing a clean install of Kubuntu 26-04 LTS after backing up my entire environment, which I subsequently reinstalled.
