Public bug reported:
uutils who shows 1000 instead of the user name. GNU who produces the
correct output, as does "w".
This causes scripts which check if the user is logged in to fail to run,
causing silent failures when scripts in things like cron jobs simply
don't run. I have edited my scripts to use gnuwho directly to address
this problem. However, I imagine that lots of other people will do the
same, which will cause problems down the road.
who --version
who (uutils coreutils) 0.10.0
gnuwho --version
who (GNU coreutils) 9.7
Packaged by Ubuntu (9.7-3ubuntu2.1)
w --version
w from procps-ng 4.0.4
I have edited the username in the examples below to show a generic username
rather than the real one in order to avoid disclosing personal data.
